Maxine Waters is a U.S. Representative for the 35th congressional district of California, and formerly district 29, serving since 1991. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He was born Maxine Moore Carr August 15, 1938.
He is the most senior of the 12 black women currently serving in the Congress of the United States, and is a member and former chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. Before the Congress he served in the California Assembly, where he was first elected in 1976.
As Waters Assembly members who advocated for divestment from South Africa's apartheid regime. In Congress he has long been a vocal opponent of the Iraq war.
Waters is charged by the House subcommittee on ethics by the House ethics rules violations in 2010. An ethics hearing he expected to face in the fall of 2010 [4] successfully blocked by House Democrats, especially Rep. Zoe Lofgren, chair of the House Ethics Committee.
